it's been a VERY long time since I regularly blogged, and for awhile I used it as a way to just let everyone know at once what was going on with me healthwise - BOORING. I'm not so sure I've got anything much MORE interesting to say to be honest, but we'll give it a whirl, I do always have SOMETHING to say, just not promising that it'll be interesting or important. :)
so... there's that.
but due the fact that my blog has some info that I don't want the whole world to know about me, I keep it private, so let me know if you want an invite!

Tonight's Dinner
was nummy navajo tacos.
This isn't the best picture, cause I had to take it of Katlyn's plate after I had given it to her, but here goes:

Gone Private / Halloween
If you're reading this then you have received my invite to read my private blog, or you're on my private email list.
So some loved ones advised that going private might be a good idea (and after I went back and read some of what I have written I decided it might not be a bad idea-r either) So thank you loved ones... And know that I have tested the accuracy of the "lock" on this and it's nice and secure :)
SO...
We had a super fun halloween this year. We weren't gonna dress up but my grandma sent me her deviled egg costume so I wore that, Dave dresseed up as an undertaker, Katlyn as a nerd and Ash as a cowgirl. We went to the Trunk or Treat down at O'Connor. It was so fun! I love to see all the little kids in their costumes. We had dinner there as they were serving hot dogs and the annual chili cook off (my favorite white chili was there - yummm) The turn out was insane! TONS of people! After we came home the girls went out trick or treating and Dave and I did our own trick or treating: grocery shopping (wheeeeeeeeeee) hahhaaaa!
Anyway it was a fun weekend! Hope you all had a good one too!

Some thoughts on 18...
I remember turning 18... I think it was JUST yesterday! Wasn't it? Sure seems that way to me!

There's me when I was 18... the baby is Joey - now he is this big ol' man-type person. So I guess time really does march on, huh?
But we're not talking about Joey here... we're talkin' about ASHLEY - when did SHE get to be 18? Did I miss something? No, I've been here to whole time, it just doesn't seem like she should already be 18! It's so... unbelievable, the time seems to have just slipped away. Now granted she was just barely 7 when she came to live with me, so I have only HAD her for 11 years, but still, those were amazing years, incredible years that changed me forever from not-a-mom to forever-a-mom. That's pretty amazing stuff. And all in such a short amount of time. And also in that short time, she went from a little girl...
To not-quite-a-little girl...

To not-quite-a-little girl...To this WOMAN...
...and the world may think of her as a woman,
but forever, when I look at her, I'll see my little girl...
Happy Birthday Ash, I can't wait to see what the world has to offer you... for I already know what you offer the world... oxox

Some thoughts to think...
Even tho I'm not prone to such corn-ball mush too often, someone sent this to me and I just think everyone could use to read it - if not once, everyday!!
Well I could anyway! So I thought I would share:
1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.
5.. Pay off your credit cards every month.
6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.
8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.
9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.
10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.
12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.
13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.
15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks.
16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.
17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.
19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.
20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.
21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.
22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.
23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.
24. The most important sex organ is the brain.
25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.
26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words 'In five years, will this matter?'
27. Always choose life.
28. Forgive everyone for everything.
29. What other people think of you is none of your business.
30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.
31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
32. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
33. Believe in miracles.
34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.
35. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.
36. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young..
37. Your children get only one childhood.
38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.
40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's,we'd grab ours back.
41. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
42. The best is yet to come.
43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
44. Yield.
45. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift."

Home sweet home...
So we're home - had a GREAT time and I have tons of pictures in albums on Facebook - if you wanna see 'em let me know and I'll send you a link (you don't have to be a facebook user...) I am missing the beautiful weather of Southern California right now - but am glad to be home with my sweetheart...
My girls and I had a marvelous time, beaching it, Disneyland and visiting people, we got a lot done in our 8 days! We did a lot of fun things without going out of our budget, I'm very proud of us! I hope the rest of the summer is just as fun, I guess that means I will have to make it that way!!
kisses -
Katie

"Daughter"
Ever so gently,
I hold you in my hands
beautiful butterfly.
Diaphanous wings
gently test the breeze,
promise predestined flight.
A fragment of time passes
such a short time it seems
to the hands that hold you close.
Gossamer wings grow strong and restless.
The morning comes when you leave my hands,
and flutter triumphantly around me
though remaining quite near
a mere breath away.
Each new day you venture further.
Perfect, powerful wings carry you
away from my protective hands
as you seek the wind,
yet return at the coming of night.
This day, though,
my proud heart rejoices.
This day my bursting heart silently weeps.
This splendid butterfly
soars aloft to touch cerulean skies
to discover her own laughter and joy,
triumph and pain,
free, unfettered, unique.
No longer in need of these hands
that have held you,
but forever cradled in my heart.
